This IR sensor detects objects in front of it using infrared light. It sends out an infrared beam and checks if it bounces back, then gives a simple HIGH or LOW signal to your Arduino or other board. Connect three wires, upload a short sketch, and your project can sense obstacles.
It is a favourite module for beginner robotics. You can build an obstacle-avoiding robot, a line follower, an automatic tap, an object counter or a simple touchless switch. The board has an onboard LED that lights up when something is detected, and a small knob to adjust the detection range. It works with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and other microcontrollers.
